In 2015, world governments adopted the 2030 Agenda with its 17 sustainable development goals (Sustainable Development Goals). In 2015 they agreed in Addis Ababa, that funding for the investments needed to implement the 2030 Agenda and related policy objectives would be broadly funded. However, it is uncertain whether the current mix of political incentives and disincentives will encourage the necessary funding.
